What can we discover by taking a closer look at the paintings of Van Gogh?
To celebrate London’s National Gallery hosting the UK’s biggest ever Van Gogh Exhibition and our cinema screening of the exhibition this autumn, join artist Jayne Blacklock over two workshops to look at some of the work he produced during the last couple of years of his life in the South of France. Discover his influences and challenge some thoughts about this much recognised but hugely misunderstood artist.
First workshop
Choose between Tuesday 29 October, 6.30pm and Wednesday 30 October, 6.30pm
We’ll delve into his use of colour, texture and pattern, learning techniques to create a collaborative painting in acrylic.
Second workshop
Choose between Tuesday 12 November, 6.30pm and Wednesday 13 November, 6.30pm
Held after our screening of Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers, we’ll look at other artists influenced by his work, take inspiration from the film and work towards producing our own piece in the style of Van Gogh.
To immerse yourself fully, it is recommended that you attend the first and second workshop as well as the exhibition screening, but workshops will be standalone. Please add tickets for the first workshop, second workshop and screening to your basket ahead of booking.
No painting experience is needed, and all ability levels are most welcome as you will be guided through the process by an encouraging and experienced teacher.
Age restriction: 12+ (any young person aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult)
Tickets
£25 (includes screening entry and all art materials)
