Presented by Northern Rascals as part of the Rural Touring Dance Initiative
SHED is Northern Rascals’ brand-new project that uses visual art, spoken word and performance to raise awareness of the issues young people face with their mental health. The work uses performance to narrate the struggles of our young people and an installation to display the stories of support young people have received from their families and communities, and the help that is available.
Performed by a small cast of dancers in a pop-up structure, SHED invites its audience to stand on the outside and look in. A chance to witness real-life experiences told in a series of shorts, the audience get a glimpse of the stories that make us – a portrait of love and loss and the essential humanity that resides in us all.
Northern Rascals are a multi-disciplinary performance company based in Yorkshire. With their unique blend of theatre and contemporary dance, the company crafts the abstract and absurd to lead audiences to narratives rooted in the current socio-political climate.
Northern Rascals endeavour to make work with depth and complexity that with the power of imagination has the ability to make a direct impact on a wide variety of audiences.
Running time: approx. 67 minutes
