Christmas at BATH Library

A series of illustrated animals read a book in an image for Bishop Auckland Town Hall Library's Christmas events.

Bring your little ones to our new library space this December for a range of activities including festive storytelling and Christmas crafts. With hot drinks and sweet treats on offer, it’s sure to get you in a Christmassy mood!

Breakfast with Mrs Claus
Tuesday 9, Friday 12, Tuesday 16, Friday 19 and Monday 22 December, 11am to 11.45am | £10

Pop to our library and join us for a cosy storytelling morning with Mrs. Claus! Gather round as she shares heart-warming holiday tales straight from the North Pole.

Adults can relax and enjoy a hot tea or coffee, paired with a selection of fresh pastries, while little ones enjoy cookies and juice straight from Mrs. Claus’s kitchen.

Age guidance: 3+ (all children must be accompanied by an adult)

Christmas Crafts
Tuesday 9, Tuesday 16, Saturday 20 and Monday 22 December, 2.00pm to 2.45pm, and Saturday 20 and Tuesday 23 December, 11.00am to 11.45am | £7

Get into the holiday spirit at our Christmas Crafts Workshop and join us for a festive session where you can:

  • Decorate your own Christmas bauble — add your own design, sparkle and imagination to hang on your tree.
  • Paint a Nutcracker doll —paint your very own doll with a variety of paints and festive trimmings! 
  • Decorate a Christmas stocking — glitter, ribbons, and jewels can help to make your stocking one of a kind!

You can also enjoy 20% off food and drink at our café with your ticket for Christmas Crafts.

Storytime with Elves
Thursday 11, Thursday 18 and Tuesday 23 December, 2.00pm to 2.45pm | £10

Head to our library and join us for a fun storytelling session with the Library Elves! Gather round as they share exciting Christmas stories straight from the North Pole.

Letters to Santa
Thursday 11 and Thursday 18 December, 11.00am to 11.45am | Free

Come and join us for a letter writing session, where children can fill in and decorate their special Christmas wish list before sending it off to Santa in our very own post box to make sure that letter gets to the North Pole!

Afterwards, join us for festive stories in the library from our own resident elves, perfect for little ones and adults alike!

Cookies and Storytime
Friday 12 and Friday 19 December, 2.00pm to 2.45pm | £5

Step into Christmas at our library for a cookie decorating and storytelling workshop.

Children can decorate their very own cookie with a selection of icing and sweet treats, before settling down to enjoy some festive stories with their new creations. It’s the perfect mix of food and fun!

Age guidance: 3+ (all children must be accompanied by an adult)

Build a Snowman
Saturday 13 December, 11.00am to 12.00noon and 1.30pm to 2.30pm | £7

Come and make your own snowman in this fun filled session. Decorate your snowman with a range of hats, scarves, and accessories to make a one-of-a-kind snowman to take home for Christmas! Please note – no real snow required!

Why not take your creations to see The Snowman In Concert with The EverReady Band on our big screen the very same day too!
